Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938) was a German expressionist artist. He lived in Davos from 1928 until his death in 1938 and was a co-founder of the Brücke group of artists and shaped modern art of the 20th century. Kirchner is considered one of the most important representatives of German Expressionism.
During this hiking week, we want to trace Kirchner's life in Davos. Where and how did he live and work in Davos? Who did he meet? Who were his friends, who were his supporters? We will visit his homes on the Wildboden, in the larches and on the Stafelalp, where we will also have access to the interiors. These places can be combined with attractive hikes. Of course, the programme also includes the forest cemetery, where Kirchner was buried after his suicide. At the Kirchner Museum, we are given an exclusive ‘Spot on’ guided tour outside of regular opening hours. The city walk as part of the guest programme can be booked additionally.
Our local hiking guide and Davos connoisseur, Thomas Dietiker, accompanies us on the trails. He will be supported by experts from the Kirchner Museum.
